1st babycenter.com (my source of all things baby) says I should talk about the positive pregnancy test & me telling David, which wasn't a big production but exciting nonetheless. I wrote "Well, when my period didn't start I immediately told David and we bought a pregnancy test- thinking I would wait until after my period would have been over, but I couldn't wait and took it while I was at work. I called David right after the test showed positive and we were both SO excited! Yay for First Response accuracy!" There is also a picture... but if you wait too long the "yes" goes away, lame, but here it is- oh, and this was probably on October 10th, 2010.
On Dec 6th, 2010 we had another milestone, our first ultrasound at 13 weeks, "David & I were really excited about our first ultrasound, and were really hoping the doctor would be able to tell us if the baby was a boy or girl (because we knew that this doctor had very accurate predictions early on in the pregnancy). So when he told us it was a boy we were ECSTATIC!" This also happens to coincide with picking a name. Since the baby is a boy, we knew we were going to name him Jonathan (after his father) Michael (after his first paternal uncle) and that I would most likely call him Jon (after his maternal grandfather & first uncle)- this is a name I picked out when David & I were just engaged- I knew what it was in Sunday school maybe a month before we were married it just popped into my head :D here are a few pictures:
The current "milestone" is my halfway mark on Jan. 21, 2011 "I can't believe how quickly it went by! I'm growing bigger everyday now, I can feel him kick up a storm -have really been able to for a long long time but now I can feel him hiccup. My appetite is coming back (finally). I wake up at night to switch sides & every night David puts his hand on my belly to see if he can feel anything yet (hopefully he will soon!). Right now my favorite thing is to lay on the sofa & listen to David practice while Jonathan does his "dance"- he loves it when David plays too." And here are some pictures from last Thursday's ultrasound:
This was the VERY FIRST THING Jonathan wanted us to see, that he is, in fact, a boy This is his Nixon wave
At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound (the doctor said he was 14oz), your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily. *I'll save the funny stories for tomorrow :)
That's so cute that you had the name picked out before you got married. Maybe it was a premonition? Miles and I can never agree on any possible names.
ReplyDeletei'm glad the name came easily - it's so hard for us! some babies know what they want to be called, i think.
ReplyDeletehe'll be here before you know it, so it's good that you're writing this stuff down. when you're holding him these things will be a distant memory.
I love you and your blog too. The ultrasounds are very cool. I can't wait to see you, I'm looking forward to of mother-daughter date!
