meet Maestro, our new Kawai piano:
David found him on e bay- and I ninja-ed him- or rather we were the only bid till 1 min to go and then bam 4 other bids and it was down to 2 seconds and I ninja-ed it (totally my first time too- that's right, I rock)!
Maestro came to our home after a perilous 6 hour drive to and from North Carolina, including his traumatic front leg amputations after one turn too fast in Lynchburg, and an even more perilous journey down the Stuart's stairs to the basement (thank you Todd, Josh & Vladamir!). And well, the lack of legs actually was a blessing in disguise, you see, now he fits on his wall by the fireplace (the other leg is just propped up...)
Maestro was named after a foreign chocolate (from Saudi Arabia) I found on-line because David described the action/tone as being smooth like chocolate and well, because it's a Taylor and the name seemed to fit perfectly.
Now it has been two weeks and he is the new family favorite- David can practice at home & I can listen to Claire de Lune while I cook dinner, life is good.
he's beautiful.
ReplyDeletealthough i can't think of the name maestro (and i haven't talked to jimmy but i know he feels the same) without thinking of the whale on pinocchio. you know, when he's underwater and he's yelling "maaaaaeeeessstttrrrrooooo!" but we love pinocchio so it's all good.
Your story reminds me of another piano relocation trip that didn't end so well. Dad & Roger Goodwin took a turn too quickly and the piano tumbled over the side of Dad's truck and broke into a million pieces. Now you know why none of the Fowler kids ever had a single piano lesson.
